Crystal Palace Duplex
LOCATION - Crystal Palace, London
BRIEF - full refurbishment of two bedroom apartment
This Crystal Palace apartment was a really exciting project to work on. An Old Victorian Pub conversion that boasted many original features to be celebrated and opportunities to reintroduce others that had been lost over time.
A completely blank canvas to play around with, the concept was “Art Gallery”. Everything was to be white, punctuated by the owner’s collection of eclectic art and lighting. This allowed us to give appropriate focus to each piece.
The striking, glass staircase opened up to a double height void that felt empty with such high ceilings. We overcame this by introducing big industrial pendants, in bright colours, filling the space in a fun and stylish way.
We designed a full lighting scheme utilising brushed chrome downlights throughout for the general lighting, glass pendants over the kitchen bar and some discrete industrial wire pendants above the dining table. This created layers to the lighting, adding moods to each area whilst still speaking one creative language.
Key finishes were limited to brushed chrome and glass, to reinforce the stripped aesthetic of a gallery. Flooring throughout was light, engineered oak, softened with a few abstract patterned black and white rugs.
The furniture was mainly Danish in style, slim and discreet in grey tones. We contrasted this with some colourful accessories and statement pieces.
What our clients say
“
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend using Hall Villar! They were great to work with.
They listened to our ideas, whilst also encouraging new ones. They understood the importance of the setting (a former Victorian pub) and also how important our artwork is for us as we love collecting prints.
They created an open space for the public areas, that emulates almost a museum exhibition where we could have all our artwork on display.
We couldn’t love more the result, I think we both could say now, that we live in our dream home.
